چکیده
In this article, I examine how Maya Deren and Marie Menken’s mid-1940s filmmaking enacts a gestural aesthetic. Drawing on Vilém Flusser’s thinking gesture (his discussion of “moving tools” the thoughtfulness hands), draw attention to importance hands in work. Visual Variations Noguchi (1945), Menken employs handheld Bolex camera explore different material properties art objects. Through her sweeping camerawork, film editing sound, she transforms Noguchi’s into new, cinematically stuttering, borderline abstract compositions. At Land (1944), Deren’s unnamed protagonist (played by herself) is filmed reaching, touching, clasping grasping way through highly mutable world. re-working mythic quest narrative, function as gestural, thoughtful means adaptation. Hands also provide with manual manipulating “film form”, manually piecing together surfaces, shots scenes. Land, both artist-filmmakers use their transform human gesture. foregrounding (onscreen offscreen), enact desubjectified, cinema.

On the design of robotic hands for brain-machine interface.
Brain-machine interface (BMI) is the latest solution to a lack of control for paralyzed or prosthetic limbs. In this paper the authors focus on the design of anatomical robotic hands that use BMI as a critical intervention in restorative neurosurgery and they justify the requirement for lower-level neuromusculoskeletal details (relating to biomechanics, muscles, peripheral nerves, and some aspe...

In this paper we will review the progress of hands-free, Voice User Interface (VUI) research work at Bell Labs, including: a multichannel data base collection, technology development, and performance evaluation. Thirty-channel, simultaneous recordings have been conducted in a moving car, collecting speech from 57 subjects under various weather, road, and noise conditions. These are being used f...
متن کاملStatistical Machine Translation Part I: Hands-On Introduction
Statistical machine translation (SMT) is currently one of the hot spots in natural language processing. Over the last few years dramatic improvements have been made, and a number of comparative evaluations have shown, that SMT gives competitive results to rule-based translation systems, requiring significantly less development time. This is particularly important when building translation syste...
